My Boss and I

One Monday Morning

Cyndi: Good morning, Bora.

Bora: G o o d M o r n i n g.

Cyndi: Bora, wake up!

Bora: I think I need a cup of coffee.

Cyndi: You bet. Do you need a pink pill? It will help to wake you up. It is equal too four cups of coffee.

Bora: Oh, really! But No, thank you. I would go for coffee. By the way, you make good coffee. I am thinking how can I survive going back to Cambodia and don’t drink coffee. It is your fault, Cyndi, it is your fault.

Cyndi: What!?

Bora: You make good coffee. I can’t stand away from it.
Cyndi: Thanks.

Bora: You are welcome.

Cyndi: So, don’t you have the coffee maker at home?

Bora: Nope, not a chance. You know, coffee is not our daily routine.

Cyndi: Well, so what do you have in the morning?

Bora: Rice! J

Cyndi: So what about lunch and supper?

Bora: Rice and rice.

Cyndi: So, you have rice three times a day?

Bora: Yep. You know when we ask people about having breakfast, lunch, or supper, instead of asking, “Did you have lunch yet?” We ask, “Have you eaten rice yet?”

Cyndi: Awesome, so do you just eat rice?

Bora: No. we eat rice go with food, you know, like soup, meat, stir fried, and fish.

Cyndi: Yuk, you eat fish?

Bora: Oh yeah, fish over here is not so good, but if you eat fish we make, you would love it. It is awesome. We also eat SPIDER, crickets, you know for snack, and I ate dog one time.

Cyndi: You ate dog! Well, I am not going to invite you to my house. I have a lovely dog at home.

Bora: Hmmm, yummy, haha just kidding… Good news is I don’t cook. So your dog is safe. Hahahaha

Cyndi: Oh Bora, do you want to help the lady in the showroom?

Bora: Ok… \

Other Monday Morning…

Cyndi: Bora, get up to work or I fire you. What are you thinking about?

Bora: I am thinking I am going to run Tim Horton when I get back to Cambodia.

Cyndi: Are you really?

Bora: Mhhhh, well, there are not many Canadian in Cambodia, so I think Tim Horton is going to be Canadian attraction to Cambodia. I will put the sign “Canadian Attraction Original Tim Horton.”

Cyndi: So, that for only Canadian.

Bora: Well, I will add, “But everybody is welcome.”

Cyndi: You bet, haha you are funny Bora.

Bora: Thanks. Oh by the way, you cannot fire me!

Cyndi: Oh yeah… you are a lucky boy. Now, work!

Well, working in Cambodia, I would never have conversation like that (a friend conversation, joking, express feeling….etc) but coming to work in Canada, not just earning my computer skill but my confidence in talking to people in a higher position. J

Mom: Bora, are you not going out this evening?

Bora: Nope.

Mom: Isn't it today Wednesday?

Bora: Yes.

Mom: Don't you have a Bible Study?

Bora: Yeah...... but plan is changed and I have no idea what is happening now.

Mom: Why don't you call and ask?

Bora: Hmmm... I prefer to stay in my room this evening.

Mom: Do whatever you feel like doing. It is up to you.

The Weekend...

Mom: Bora, Don't you have any plan with your group this weekend?

Bora: I don't know, but I believe they do, cause they always do something at weekend.

Mom: Why don't you call them and ask?

Bora: Why don't they call me? You know, in Cambodia, if they want you to be in the group, they will call you.

Mom: Well, that is in Cambodia. But here is Canada, if you need something, you call and ask.

Bora: Hmmm, I think I will stay home this weekend.

Mom: Do whatever you feel like doing. It is up to you.

Days Later.....

Mom: bla bla bla bla bla?

Bora: bla bla bla bla bla.

Mom: bla bla bla bla bla.

Bora: bla bla bla bla bla.

Mom: bla bla bla Call and ask.

Bora: Well, I think I will stay at home.

Mom: Do whatever you feel like doing. It is up to you.

Hmmm... It is a huge challenge for me to call people and ask for something. It is actually not me. I always be the one who offer people help. Till now, I still need lots of time and strenght to call people and ask them for something I want or I need. Most of the time I wait until the last minute. Well, I still have the rest of my life to learn that... Actaully living in Canada is easy... just go to people and ask.... So simple but I can't still do that. For now, I prefere Cambodia. I am happy offering help to people when I know they need my help

I remember before coming to Canada, I actually packed lots stuff. Well I need most of them but stuff I thought I would need sometime, I have never use it. They are going to end up in Canada while I am traveling back to Cambodia.

In my room, there are stuff laying all over places. I don't know what to do with them now. I am thinking what to leave behind and what to bring them back with me. Anyway... I hope I will not pack stuff I don't need again.
