Waiting in Faith is how I am thinking about Advent this year. It seems like all of the sermons, reflections and even music I am hearing this year point in this direction. For some reason, it is really hitting home to me. The pastor at my church talked about this yesterday, pointing out how many of the people involved in the story of Jesus' birth were waiting and doing so in faithful ways.
My prayer for myself, my family and for all those reading this is that we will all know what it means to wait in faith for what God has in store for us in the coming year.
Blessings,
Larry
I just spent most of the last week in Canada, Winnipeg to be more precise. I was there to meet with all of those who do communications work throughout the MCC system. That meeting was followed by a two day meeting of an organization called Anabaptist Communicators, made up of all types of communications professionals from organizations, institutions and denominations as well as Anabaptists working in public media outlets.
While all of the meetings were valuable, the one quote that sticks with me is from Gayle Goessen, one of the speakers. She said, "No one cares what your mission statement is, they want to know what you DO!"
Think about that for a minute. I know she was not advocating not having a clear mission statement. She was making sure we understand that while it is important to HAVE a mission statement, it is more important to SHOW the mission statement through what we are doing.
What do you think? Does this make sense to you? I always like to hear what you have to think.
Well things are changing here. Oct. 1, I am moving to a new MCC assignment. I will be serving as the Communications Coordinator for MCC East Coast. More about that as I myself learn more.
Also, I am teaching a course on Biblical Understandings of Environmental Stewardship. If you have ideas for resources, let me know.
This is Carter's first haircut. Sorry for the quality but it is done through my cell phone.
How has it already been one year since Carter was born? What a joy he has been to us. Thanks to all of you who have been a part of the past year, we have really felt your prayers.
Blessings.
