Have you wondered if I dropped off the side of the earth?
I haven't. Life in Cairo keeps me busy busy busy. At night I'm able to fall asleep almost instantly.
Now that I know I can post from this computer, I will try to do a better job keeping you all updated on life here in Cairo!
What have I been doing to prepare for my year in Egypt?
I've read some very interesting books and articles, others were a little dry for "summer reading." One book that I highly recommend is Jennifer Drago's "A Thousand and One Egyptian Nights," about her family's three year stay in Egypt doing work with MCC. It is very insightful and informative!
I also watched a PBS Wide Angle documentary about Arab television, in particular a show called Kalam Nawaem. The show is similar to "The View" in the United States, and is a hit throughout the Arabic speaking world. The four women hosts have tackled controversial topics such as terrorism, divorce, and sex education. For more information regarding Kalam Nawaem, you can visit the PBS website. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/wideangle/shows/cairo/index.html
Last but not least, I've been trying to enjoy this "cool" Kansas weather because it's only going to be hotter in Cairo!
